Hyperloop Voyage: Paving the Way for the Future

Voyage was meant to bring to life the scientific ideas and advancements that would pave our way to cleaner and more efficient transportation. It was the place where the Hyperloop was developed and perfected before becoming widespread across the world. After 200 years, it has served its main purpose.

What has become of each of the units? In the year 2200, Voyage has more become a monument to the Hyperloop, a memory of its beginnings. The most right unit still stands as a place for tourists to come and visit to learn about the history and inner workings of the Hyperloop that still runs alongside the building. It gets a greater number of visitors than before when it was first being developed, so the leftmost unit on the ground floor has become a type of museum dedicated to the Hyperloop and other scientific advancements. The top floor still houses a handful of offices and the occasional classroom. The middle unit remains the most untouched by the passage of time. It continues to work as a laboratory looking into whatever new technological advancements that are becoming in 2200.

Overall, the entire building looks mostly the same. It is mostly the interior functions that have adapted. The floor and wall panels have remained consistent throughout, and they have been kept clean in their original condition. Some more false interior walls have been added that are mobile to allow for sectioning off of specific parts if deemed necessary, mostly for mock lab or office spaces and the occasional one needed to be added for the gallery space for the visitors.

The exterior looks the same as it always has. It has become duller in color in most places due to the sand and sun fading away its original colors. It is definitely far from its glory days, but it still stands strong and serves its function. There is rust forming along the various cracks, and the water sculptures have visibly dulled and show signs of erosion. Just like how it was designed for the desert landscape to penetrate the man-made landscape around the structure, it is slowly starting to break it all down and reclaim its old territory. There are scratches along the metal surfaces and the grey shell exterior that have formed over time from the environmental elements breaking it down.

The people have definitely been the most influential on the Voyage. Besides some of the programmatic rearrangements talked about earlier, the structure has made it possible to bring the vision of the Hyperloop to reality. The people are what turned this structure into what it is, kept it in the decent shape that it is in despite being 200 years old. They are responsible for the creation of the Hyperloop, and this structure serves as a monument to those who accomplished such feats. Who knows what will become of such a monument 200 more years later, or if the Hyperloop will even be in use still or replaced by some other type of more advanced and reliable transportation.
