Hyperloop Regeneration

Devanshi Jariwala & Drashty Rana

Here is an overview of what happened in the past 50 years: The biochemical warfare, followed by a series of catastrophic events in the late 21st century, disturbed the natural ecosystem of our planet. The eroded air quality caused death of millions of lives. It even made it difficult for people to travel and folks were forced to stay mostly indoors. It is 2094, and Earth has potentially started to regain its strength with the help of advanced technology developed at “Hyperloop Regeneration”. To combat the issue of transportation, a full scale hyperloop system was developed at “Hyperloop Regeneration” headquarters. This solved the drawbacks that people were facing in traditional modes of transportation. Hyperloop is the fastest moving pod that links cities together. It is a low air pressure tunnel which enables the pod to fly due to very little friction and air resistance. It is energy efficient, quiet, and environmentally friendly. The name of the title for this project was chosen to address this very issue. It also emphasizes the beginning of a new era, one where people are adapting to “different normal”.

The warfare destroyed the atmosphere, making it extremely unsuitable for plants to grow in. It exterminated every plant on the planet. The ecosystem got disturbed, and it wiped out almost three fourth of the population. Biotechnologists from all across the world were brought to “Hyperloop Regeneration”, which aimed to revive plants in order to recreate the balance in the ecosystem. A biotech lab (greenhouse) was built which aimed at building a technology which could  provide an environment that is suitable enough for plants to grow in. The main idea was to create networked tools that can take a plant’s experience, its phenotype, the set of stresses it encounters, and its genetics, and digitize that to allow us to understand the plant-environment  interaction with our building.

The ‘Greenhouse’ is a predominant part of this project. Provided that the world no longer has habitable soil for plant growth, the greenhouse is a significant aspect of the campus. The greenhouse enables the growth of fauna and enables, using landmark technology. This headquarters made a major advancement in technology and the lives of people in this era given the new rise of agriculture. It provides a major attraction for visitors, providing a stop for them to learn about the history of this advanced transportation and how the greenhouse came to be.

The campus consists of two parts: one, where visitors can enjoy their limited access to the building and the other, which is restricted to provide a workspace for the employees. Featuring no strict ‘front and back’, our campus is designed for visitors to experience the view from all sides. We have created multiple spatial conditions for people to experience within the building. At one point they enter into a big open space through a compressed space like a small tunnel. Led through a series of corridor spaces, the sections are distributed among the campus according to public and private spaces. Unit one hosts the reception, restaurant and theatre which are connected in a large open space. Unit two hosts the testing and learning center for headquarters. Unit three hosts a workplace for employees. Unit four is a Biotech lab where plants are grown using advanced technology. The bridge-like structures connecting all units together, allowing for public & private circulation. The campus as a whole is surrounded by open courtyard spaces for users to experience the exterior of the building. Lights are used as wayfinding tools within the exterior courtyard spaces. They highlight paths for people to be guided in a curated manner around the campus. The neon lights also accentuate details of the building at night.
